Reading Bernard Cornwell is immersing yourself in history. Cornwell is a writer who has chosen to follow the path of the historical novel and has shown that he knows it well. Middle Ages, eighteenth century, but also more ancient periods: there are no limits to his imagination and documentation. I like Bernard Cornwell's extremely engaging writing, I like his ability to bring past times to life, to be able to make fictitious and real-life characters coexist in the same story. And I like the stories he tells, even if I prefer the medieval ones. Why I chose to read Bernard Cornwell Because first of all I like ancient history. But there is also another fact: when I started reading this author, I never stopped.
He knows how to tell a story. He knows Phone Number Data how to take the reader from the first page to the last. I chose Bernard Cornwell because I know that I will like every novel he writes. I know that in his stories I will be able to find adventure and fidelity to history, even if the latter has not always been possible, as he has explained several times in the historical notes at the end of the text. And I chose to read it for this too: for the final historical note. Something every writer of historical fiction should include. Bernard Cornwell is a writer who has not suffered a decline over the years, he has actually demonstrated that he has imagination and the desire to research and write.
The first novel read by Bernard Cornwell Cornwell's first book read was Sharpe's Riflemen , set in the time of the Napoleonic Wars. Sharpe was a successful series of novels – I still have five left to read – which was also made into television. I don't remember why I bought that book, but almost certainly - as usual - I was attracted by the title and the cover, the invincible combination. And since then I have savored other historical novels by the writer. Have you ever read Bernard Cornwell? Do you know Bernard Cornwell? Have you ever read anything by him? To get to know him better, you can read my interview on Books to read and the one on how to write a historical novel here on the blog.
